The first 24 hours post-procedure are the most important. Be sure to inform your clients that it’s normal for the liquid stain to become darker on the first day. Actually, this is an important part of the process. It shows that the dye is working by continuously oxidising the skin, and it will begin to fade gradually once the brows make contact with water. It can take a day or so for the stain to settle into its final shade, so don’t be alarmed if you get a phone call from a client saying their brows are too dark. Simply tell them what we’ve just told you!

THE 24-HOUR RULE
It’s the golden decree in the world of lash and brow staining. Things to avoid in the first 24 hours post-dye include makeup and facial cleansers. Water in any form is also a no-go, which includes showers, baths, swimming pools, and anything that’ll get water on the lashes and/or brow area. Sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms, and direct exposure to sunlight must also be avoided at all costs.
THE THREE-DAY WAIT
Once your client has made it through the first 24 hours, their abstinence isn’t over yet. They will need to avoid exfoliating the skin or using oil-based or anti-aging products for the next 2-3 days. And unless they want their brows to turn an Oompa Loompa shade of orange, clients must refrain from applying self-tanning products during this post-stain time-frame. Specifically on the lash/brow region.
NO TOUCHY
Look, but don’t touch. Urge your clients to avoid the temptation to fiddle with the brow and/or lash area post-stain. While you wouldn’t always say it by just looking at your fingers, they are loaded with lots of natural oils. Good for your skin, bad for lashes and brows after a dye. If oils enter the freshly opened pores, it can clog them and lead to breakouts or even acne.
